After new HD boot errors

OK First of specs.

AMD XP2600+
Gigabyte 7VAXP Ultra
1 gig DDR crucial ram
Sony DRU500A DVD-R/+R/-RW/+RW drive(IDE 1 Master)
Light-on 48x CDRW(IDE 1 Slave)
Matrox Parhelia 128MB
floppy
1st HD Maxtor 120gig 8mb cache(IDE 0 Master) was win2kpro
2nd HD Maxtor 160gig 8 mb cache(IDE 0 Slave) new video storage drive

OK everything has worked great no problems on this video edit computer til today, I added in the new 160gig drive. Installed drive but had to use Maxblast to get full use of the drive, but ended up using PM to partion it into 2 80gig drives. Everything worked great after shutting down to put the side cover on went to reboot and now receives error loading OS and halts, now if I put the win2kpro disk in it boots up fine. everything works as it should. I don't have the computer here but will be heading over in the morning to look at it. The guy that uses it decided to reinstall windows after a clean format of the primary drive(c install went well and he shut it down and reboot same thing. Could maxblast be causing this error? I had the jumpers set to master on the master drive and slave on the slave and was thinking about changing them to cs. Any idea would be great.

Use cs setting on all drives. i used Maxblast on the same drive and got similiar problems. Boot with XP/2000 Cd and let the win setup do the formatting. I could see entire 160 capacity without maxblast.

BTW, I used XP. With 2000, you need to be below 137GB so two 80GB partitions should work. One thing for sure is you don't need the maxblast with XP and the MB you have.

shahani I'll give that a shot when I head over there. With maxblast wouldn't let it go above like 137gig like you said thats why I went PM route into 2 partitions.

I found a big drive enable from maxtor that claims if running sp3 win2kpro it will see the whole drive.

If you set one drive at CS do so for all drives on the same IDE connector. And use the 160GB as boot drive.

update incase someone runs into the same problem.
I updated win2kpro to sp4 and installed the big drive enable from maxtor and the system now shows the full drive. Also to correct the boot problem I had to change the drives from master/slave to cs.
