How do you get started in Photoshop 6??

A relitive gave me Photoshop 6 and what I think is Photoshop 7, an upgrade for 6. I have no idea of how you get started. A simple picture or changing an existing pic.

Thanks for the come-back. I was also given the book Photo shop for Dummies. Is this book worth reading?? I've heard that the Dummies books were less than desirable.

If you were given the book, then sure it's worth reading. I haven't read it myself. I've heard good things about the "dummy" books.

Photoshop 6 is just fine, especially for beginners.

Photoshop CS is the latest version of Photoshop, basicly instead of calling it 8.

The Visual Quickstart Guides Series by Peachpit Press are some of the best beginner books for all sorts of graphics programs. They are reasonably priced and easy to understand. You should be able to find one for PS6 at a good price. Godd luck and welcome to a program that you will gladly lose sleep over.
