Looking for a Photoshop Action

Hey guys, I'm looking for a Photoshop action that will take a photo, and produce something like this:

http://www.globalimagegrp.com/images...ain_image2.jpg

Sure, I could do it by hand, but I've got a bunch to do, so if it could do the work for me -- maybe with a randomizer so it comes out slightly different each time, that would be fantastic.

Anyone know of such a thing?

Cant say I know of an action that would do that

.... but why not make your grid patterns on a couple of layers with your different opacities, but make them much bigger than your final image- therefore you could move them around to get your variations over the "cropped" image

Don't know of any such actions, but then again I don't collect actions. There may be one out there somewhere.

But Cyclone's idea sounds like it would work perfect.

That wouldn't matter much. As far as single images are concerned there is nothing Flash can do that PS can't do.

foodbiz -- it's not Flash. The link above goes directly to a .JPG file.

Cyclone & Out -- you're right, I could do this by hand, and that's what I'll have to do if I can't find anything. I'm just hoping that I'm not the first person to ever want such an action. If I don't have to reinvent the wheel, I'd rather not.

Do either of you know if Photoshop has a scripting language like InDesign does? That would make creating such an action much easier.

Of course it will. Here's a very simple example.

I just want something that will do it automatically, and randomly.

not sure if you can do random but why not create a set of actions with different pattern (grid) and run them on your choice?
here is a 4 tile pattern i did this morning 4 tile
it can be run only on the same size pictures

but you get the ideea don't you?
