PC Problem - Not sure where to ask this.

ok...Having trouble playing Asherons Call or any other game. When i am out hunting or running around. The game will just up and stop responding. Leaving me to continue to run around helplessly or hunt helplessly. I have no clue whats going on. I tried a few things in hopes it will fix the problem. But sounds to me my vid card might be going again. But need other opinions, thoughts. So like i said , when i try to hunt the game will stop responding on me. Then its fine. But does it over and over. I downloaded the latest drivers for my card. I uninstalled and reinsatlled the game. Wiping everything out including the registry file. Still same problem. Pulled card out and reinserted it. Still same. Also i noticed. When the game does stop responding. The CPU is at 100% usage. When it is normally around 0% from what i seen when the game is fine. So anyway, asking for some help here. All i can think of is that my vid card is already kicking the bucket. I have a Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 128mb vid card. If you can help or know anything on this. I would appreciate it. Thanks

Please explain in more detail, I'm not up with that game ... is it online?
From what you are saying, I doubt that your card is giving up the ghost. It sounds like a service or another program is stealing all the cpu cycles. If you are running XP you can click the processes tab (in Windows Task Manager) and then click on 'CPU' at the top of the 3rd column a few times until it lists the process in descending order according to CPU power used. Try getting there quickly and seeing which process is the thief ...
Regards,
Elad.

Is there a way to see exactly which "thread" or which "process" is maxing out the cpu?

1. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to get to Windows Task Manager.
2. Click on the Processes tab.
3. Press twice on the CPU heading at the top of column 3.
4. Leave it there running whilst you play a game (one of the bad ones)..
5. When the game symptoms start quickly Alt-Tab back to the desktop and see what is at the top of the Processes list.

Not a problem custos.
Let us know if you pick up the culprit ... and if you need help to rid yourself of its mischevious presence.
