IMPORTANT QUESTIONS about a Palit card(GF2 chipset)

I found this card on NewEGG, specs:

Chipset:Geforce 2 MX400
Bus Type AGP2X/4X
Memory Interface 64MB SDR
Memory Bandwidth 2.7GB/sec
Maximum Resolution: 2048 x 1536
Integrated RAMDAC: 350MHz
Ports: VGA 15-pin Mini D-sub, TV-out

First question, will it run on my computer? I have a HP Pavilion that I bought in early 2001(January or February). Not sure of the mobo off hand... if needed I can crack her open and check. I'm looking for a cheap card with TV-Out that will improve things for a short time, while i'm buying all the parts for my new system. Will it work in my current computer?

Second question, if has a port that looks like a video out jack from a A/V set of jacks(yellow/white/red). Is this a TV out that would work by plugging it into an R/F modulator plugged into my TV?

Third Question, if no to question two... say I put in a card with am S-Video out. But my TV has no S-Video in... is there anyway to still plug my computer into my TV? I've heard that if I don't have an s-video jack in my TV itself, that i can't connect the comp to the TV at all(example, put the s-video into a modulator, but it still won't play in the TV since the modulator goes into the TV through coaxial).

P.S. Pics of the card: http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage....260-032-03.JPG

P.S.S. Link to the card: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...ption=tv%2Cout (6th item down)

First question: It will only work on your PC if you have an AGP slot. Checking the model # on HP's site or opening it up will tell you that.

Second quesiton: Yes, that's an RCA-type connector called "composite out". It will connecto to the standard "yellow/red/white" connectors, just make sure it goes to the yellow.

Third question: See Second questions answer.

And just to make sure, you say it's a GF2 MX400, don't you mean GF4 MX400?

EDIT - Now I'm really confused, your first image link shows the card as having a GF4 MX400 chipset, your second image link says "6th item down" and that's and ATi Radeon 7000. The 10th item down is a GF2 MX400 w/ TV-out. Pic

Eh, I wasnt paying attention. Couple beers+lack of sleep can do that. Guess i'll check HP's site... would be easier than cracking an HP case open again. The thing's a bitch, takes me a half-hour to open it when I wanna replace ****-.-

P.S. AGP connection=small board-long board-small board? or small board-long board?

Please refrain from using profanity.

AGP connector is the brown slot. Not sure what you mean by "small board-long board".

And the second image in the first links shows it as having a "GeForce4 MX400 GPU w/Heatsink", that's why I asked.

The connectors i'm seeing on these cards. Some of the "PCI cards" have the connector that has three pin boards(ie short one, then a long one in the middle, then another short one), whereas some others have a small one, then a longer one.

For instance, look here: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...tv%2Cout%2Cpci Look at the $51, and $52.50 cards(a palit and a jayton), to see an example of what i'm talking about.

P.S. I looked at the HP info on my model... they have no info on the mobo. But what it does say is that I have 3 PCI slots, 2 available, and no AGP. Well, I have 1 available now since I installed a 10/100 card awhile back. So now I guess my search has been narrowed down. I need to find a PCI card... one with TV-Out, cheap, and would have decent quality with some lower tier games like Ragnarok Online, D2, and possibly Halo/Half-Life/Final Fantasy XI. By the time the new UT, and Doom 3, and Half-Life 2 are around I should have my new PC built. Though it's main purpose is to play anime on my computer. The on-board video I have now plays it... but tons of framerates... it almost looks like a slideshow sometimes.

Oh yeah, I have upgraded to DX9, that won't interfere with anythign if I buy one of these old bargain-bin cards will it?

Ah, you're talking about thow they're "keyed". I'm not sure on all the specs, but w/ AGP, I'm pretty sure it dictates the voltage the card is going to get. I'm sure the keying on both standards just tells where the card is going to get it's signals from on the BUS.

DX9 is backwards compatible w/ older cards, so you should be fine.

Here's a page that shows the AGP "keys". Might have to dig some more to find one for PCI.

You might just wanna wait instead of buying a PCI video card. They seem so costly compared to their AGP counterparts and don't offer near the performance. Maybe that'll drive you to get your new system built faster.
