Cheating in HL

If you get caught cheating in a DOD server are you banned from ALL HL and mod servers?

some servers add banned ip to a master list. this list is used by some servers just to keep the cheaters off

really? there is some huge long black list somewhere on the internet? Or you mean like clan servers talk to each other and ban the same ppl.

Yes there is actually a ban list. Not a whole lot of servers use it. It’s not used often because they ip that’s banned usually are not given a reason why. So people are afraid of jerk off admins being stupid banning people because they don’t like them

I also thought Steam servers were all interlinked with a central black list. I rememeber a year ago I was caught with a orphaned cheat file and banned from one TFC server. I coulnd't join any TFC server that was WON authorized or somthing like that.

Thought stema was the same way.

Wait, I'm not cheating. I just thought that steam had implemented all their servers with cool new anti-cheat stuff that bans people from mutiple mods.

Aparently no one can verify that.

Cheating is like masturbation . . . at some point, you're the ONLY one who gets anything from it.

I'm not sure whether steam is utilizing a global blacklist, however, I would be interested in knowing if they have employed such a list to combat cheaters.

You could post to the steampowered.com forums and see if someone there can come up with the answer for ya.

It looks like steam will render a blacklist useless, as your individual ID is generated based on the email address you use to register, rather than your unique cd key. I guess we'll have to rely on VAC to combat those who insist on cheating.
