No Sound Problem

I tried several times to upgrade my sound card with a driver- unsuccessfully.

My PC does not have a sound at all.

Device Manager refuses to upgrade to the installed driver or recomended from seller Drivers CD, with a warning- it will damage stability of the system, and when despite of that warning I did upgrade, system really went dead and I had to Restore it to the previous time.

On the internet I can not find driver for this sund card VIA PCI
( chipset VIA Technology Inc, VT 8361 Apollo KLE 133 Sys. Controller) ..

I tried also MS upgrade site and it did work short time and then again dead.

OS- Win Me, Model- MSI Co MS-6378.

Please tell me what should I do?

Hmm.. It seems your soundcard is integrated.
Have you tried the drivers from the mobo manuf. site?

Usually it says it will cause stability if the driver is not made for the device. And, usually sound devices make loads of devices. Try and get the drivers from the mobo manuf., delete all instances of non-working hardware and select scan for pnp. From there it should let you specify some folders to look for the driver.

here's the link the the msi website for the driver download page for your board make sure your using the right ac97 drivers for your os and for your on board sound most the time there are two or three different sets on the mobo cd
