New WD 200 GB HDD Problem

I have the P4P800 Deluxe MOBO and WinXP Home SP1.
The new HDD is a Western Digital 200 GB.

The instruction sheet that came with the drive tells me to install the controller card which came with the drive 'cause WinXP does not support any drive larger than 137 GB at this time.

After installing the drive and the controller card it works ok and shows up in the Device Manager as working well.

At the POST Test however it says that there's no driver installed.
Therefore I can't update the Bios according to the Mobo Manual.

The driver diskette that came with the HDD somehow will not install.
Now I have heard that WinXP Home DOES support the 200 GB. drive as long as it is the SP1 edition. Have been told to take out the controller card and everything will be ok.

Does anybody have any experience with the larger drive??????

SP! is supposed to have a fix for the 137 GB issue. I haven't used a hard drive that large yet. so I can't tell from experience.

Probably correct information, though.

i have a wd 200gb. I don't have the controller card, but I do have intel application accelerator and windows XP sp1 installed. Installing the intel program should also help recognize it.

Where do you get the intel application accelerator?
It sounds like that this would fix the problem. Thanks!

ALOHA
Actually the problem is ATA133 support. If your HD has it you shouldn't need an addin card.
I'm running WD 200GB with w2k and xp-sp1 and use the addin card that came with HD.
Without drivers installed it doesn't recognize full capacity. Then install correct drivers and works Great..Card boots its own bios to detect connected drives-watch it working as system boots.

I don't use But: Intel® Application Accelerator here it is..sound interesting to bad I don't have any Intel chips.

I found that Intel Application Accelerator comes with the software supplied with my new Mobo (P4P 800 Deluxe).
Thanks!
