Outdoors Windows XP messing up things

Ok...I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me how to fix some of these problems I came across when I updated my Windows 98 to Windows XP. After I updated it I noticed that the sound wouldn't work and my modem stopped working. Does anyone know how to fix this problem very simply?

Do you need to update your XP? I would also suggest you should reinstall your XP drivers. It should work.

Is this a branded PC? HP, Compaq, Gateway . . .

If not, do you know the mfr or your cards and such, you'll need to know in order to d/l drivers from their site(s).

Send a message via Yahoo to muno
Then you need to know what model your computer is, eg. 'hp vectra 5010'.
Browse to hp's site, goto support and downloads, select your model from the list and download xp drivers.

muno's suggestion would probly work. XP doesnt have ALL the drivers. I've installed upgrades on HPs and Compaqs and have had to download updated drivers for their hardware.
