Ok...I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me how to fix some of these problems I came across when I updated my Windows 98 to Windows XP. After I updated it I noticed that the sound wouldn't work and my modem stopped working. Does anyone know how to fix this problem very simply?
No I don't have the drivers I just had the disk for windows XP re-installation......It says that I don't have a modem and that I don't have a sound card
Then you need to know what model your computer is, eg. 'hp vectra 5010'.
Browse to hp's site, goto support and downloads, select your model from the list and download xp drivers.

i thought xp was an auto detect drives
how about the sound card. could you open your case, take the card off and try plug it in again harder, see if that got disturb.
muno's suggestion would probly work. XP doesnt have ALL the drivers. I've installed upgrades on HPs and Compaqs and have had to download updated drivers for their hardware.
