How do you overclock?

I don't know much about all the technical pc stuff (I do know what overclocking is though) and I was just wondering how you actually overclock.

you must use some special software to overclock, and depends on what u wanna overclock and to what point is best, and will it be able to handle it or may need an extra fan or HS

First you must read like a fiend---enter "overclock" or "OC" in our fine search feature---no "special" software neccessary...

(It might be simple---what hardware do you possess?)

If its a OEM PC meaning bought from a store then you most likely have a Intel board that is assuming you have a P4, in this case overclocking is not possible.

Without any of the details of your system, telling you how YOU actually will overclock your system isn't going to happen. Basically, though, it involves changing either the multiplier or CPU FSB in order to increase the CPU's clock (MHz). There are finer points involved, such as cooling the CPU and adjusting voltage levels in order to stabilize your overclock, but I don't even know if your system is CAPABLE of overclocking, let alone whether you have all the adjustments to really get your system up there.

... and... what specific model motherboard, what specific ram (need to know these things to see what type of bus speed and voltage tweaks are possible, plus what speed the ram will likely tolerate), plus exactly what CPU heat sink and fan you have (to get an idea of the cooling capacity available for your soon-to-be overclocked CPU).

Post all the info you have regarding your system, with as much specific detail as possible.

Also, just curious...
Why do you want to overclock, without knowing the specifics of how it is done?

It's really not "complicated" per se, you just need to be somewhat careful and observant. As others have mentioned, just do a google.com search on overclocking guides and "How tos" and you find many good articles.
