Dual Channel with Abit IS7

I was testing out a pair of Mushkin Basic 256MB PC2700 RAM on my Abit IS7 for a friend. I placed each one in slots 1 and 3 (and later, slots 2 and 4) like the manual says for dual channel operation. When I boot up, I heard one POST beep and the monitor displays my CPU type and speed, but it stops there. When I put the sticks in other combinations (non-dual channel), though, the computer finishes starting up. What's the deal?

Perhaps yer 2 sticks are not a matched pair.

They have to be the very same sticks, else it won't work

they're both Mushkin Basic 256MB PC2700 DDR333 bought from the same store at the same time. unless the store gave me two different sticks and the packaging has been mismarked... but when I run them separately they both show as PC2700 DDR333 and they are both 256MB

For my Asus P4P800, in manual mention about brand name of memory which were tested and qualified for use on the mother board.
Well... the brand Mushkin is not listed here, some supposed to be working fine in Dual channel mode such as Kingston pc3200 (only curtain model) shown here that it's not qualified for dual channel.
Also some working on dual channel may not work when using in 4 modules(2 pairs of dual channel).

http://www.abit-usa.com/memory/

My board's manufacturer, Abit, lists Mushkin as one of the memory modules that will work with its motherboards, so I don't think that the brand of the memory is the problem.

I'm running 2@256MG Corsair DDR3200 sticks on my ABIT IS7. I have them in slots 1 and 3. Dual mode works great. They were'nt packaged as a matched set. Just odered them from Newegg back in August for $53 each. Plan on picking up 2 more next month.
