Napster launches a day early for those who registered early.
I got the email last night
Looks pretty good, lots of songs, going to give iTunes a run for it's money.

At $0.99 per song, I don't think so.... Heck, I would rather go out and buy the CD if I have to since I never buy a CD for less than 3 songs anyway. I at least get a CD jacket and lyrics with the purchase. Something that is actually collectable and look legit...
I think they need to lower the price to show customers that downloading is much cheaper than to buy a CD. Otherwise, I think they will have a hard time.
I also wonder what bitrates these songs are going to be? Hopefull not random like it used to be when it was a free service..

I've been usuing it for a month now, and it rules IMO. It was buggy at the first beta test, but its been getting better and better. Yestderdays patch fixed my last few complaints and added some new features. Hopefully they will add music really regularly and in large quantities.
As for beating Apples, I think they will because instead of paying 0.99 a song I can download as much as I want for my PC for $9.99 a month and purchase songs to burn. So I don't have to pay for the songs that I just want to listen to once in a while. Its like kazaa but with better searches and the song quality is always awesome!

NDC,
Like I just posted $9.99 a month gets you unlimited downloads for your PC, streaming music videos, and streaming radio (though you can get that for free other places).
It is all 1 bitrate. 128kbps. Not amazing, but certanly makes the download size reasonable while keeping good quality. I bought Coldplay "A rush to the head" and downloaded it as well to see the diff in quality. It was a waste of time because the sound diff is nearly identical between the cd and the download.

Really? According to the site, it says 99 per track and 9.99 for album...
