Burning CD slow?

i loaded win2k w/sp4 back on my main machine and wanted to burn an image i had on my raid.

i have nero 6.0.19 (latest update) and when i was trying to burn from the raid drive the whole machine went to a screeching halt and was slow. It seems that the it kepted trying to fill in the buffer every second.

it worked fine when i had xp loaded

Verbatmin 40 x burner
IWILL Raid 100 Stripped 40 gig (2 X 20)
ASUS A7N8X Deluxe (latest nfroce 2 drivers)
1 gig of samsung ram


nothing was using my processes except for nero which was at 13%

any clues?

file preferences ultrabuffer. or pick a single drive for disk cache if you can. this may help. try also the settings in file preferences cache including test all drive speeds. btw, have you defragged, lately?
