Finding registration code in the registry

I am about to reformat and I lost my registration code. I know there's a way to find it in the registry, but I've tried searching the registry for "Registration" and for "serial" and neither shows the Win2K registration code. Anyone know how to find it?
Thanks
Dave

Oh--- The system is a Windows 2000 Pro system. That might help a bit.

Download and install AIDA32. It will show you all of your software license/product keys.

I always write my install keys directly on the install disk itself with a Sharpie (unless the disk is black - then I'm stuck). It's something somebody taught me when I first got into computers and have found it to be an invaluable habit.

I highly recommend doing it.

I was under the impression that the serial # for 2K (shown in Aida32) was different than the CD key.

Yup, it's the CD key allright. You can find the number in two places. One under "Operating System" and another under "Software > Licenses" in AIDA32.
