usa /uk power difference

Hi,my 1st post,i had my laptop sent over from the uk a few monthes ago,
( live in the usa now).Slight problem laptop works for maybe 1 hr,30 minutes then just dies on me.I have tried adapters etc,still the same problem.Is there a cord or adapter i can buy online or here in the usa?
I have a packard bell

What do you mean? You're using the 230v power adapter in the US? If so no wonder it isn't working.
The UK uses 230v AC RMS (330v peak)
The US uses 110v RMS I think. If you're after a new mains adapter, I'd contact packard bell. Have the model number ready as well. Different systems have different power supplies.

How do i find the model number,i have the s/n number.
i dont have any manuals for the laptop.
Will the model number be on the laptop it,(when i boot it up?

It should be on the botton of the laptop. It probably has S/N right beside it.

Could be - it's hard to get much useful information from thier website.

They don't seem to have any representation in this country any more and I'm betting that if you get the part needed from the manufacturer you'll likely pay an arm a leg for it.

I'm not saying this is a good vender but they are listed as selling Packard Bell parts:

You might want to give them a call just to see if they can help you. I'd seriously look into finding a solution stateside since it'll probably cost you less and you'll get it much faster.
