Old Monitor Started Howling!

My 6-year-old KDS 19-inch monitor started a loud, high-pitched howling/ringing sound. Any idea what would cause that, repair cost, or do I need to replace it? How do you legally dispose of a monitor?

Thanks!

you could repair the monitor by sending it to the shop. i have studied fixing a monitor but i wont advise you to do it yourself. shop safer.
i would suggest you should get yourself a new one. you could get a very possible cheapest monitor around the town. monitor can never be costly, except for lcd.

Purchacing a new monitor would be your best bet if it is that old already.

Take it to the dump and they will take care of it for you.
Contacting KDS may answer your question of what the sound may be attributed to.

You may find some of the suggestions helpful on this page.

Sounds like the tube is going away, or check if your video card might be running in low power mode.
When was the last time you opened your computer and monitor and cleaned them out, it can work wonders.
If not, might be time to replace.
