It supports several advanced rendering options not found with the consumer-grade Radeon chipset, atleast not enabled that is. The FireGL drivers are also highly optimized for 3D application performance, not games.

Then again, you can also simply software hack a Radeon to a FireGL, thus saving several hundred dollars.
