i don't get the diff

hey what is the difference between these

Twin-X PC3200 2x512MB DDR ECC REGD (TWINX1024RE-3200LL)

and

Twin-X PC3200 2x512MB DDR REGD (TWINX1024R-3200C2) - cheaper

one is ECC?? one is not..i don't get it

weird... :S

That is the differnace, ECC.

One set of RAM contains ECC code on the chip which makes it a bit slower but more stable, it is usualy also more ex*****ve.

The ECC means that that memory module has error checking built in for data integrity...

Unless you are running a server, generally you don't need it.

ohh icc

ohh icic, so which one should i get?? is there a higher risk of like frying the ram sticks or wut?? if i get NON-ECC?

The real difference is the one marked with 3200LL is Low Latency. It has a faster CAS rating which is why it's more expensive.

ecc=error correction circuitry

means it does checks for little errors etc....means it costs more, lol.

Most comps just use non-ecc

ecc would have to be a little slower since it involves extra stuff happening, lol.

i just pretty much want the best...so which one would you people buy? to save money and i guess concluding that..non -ecc is faster...get the non-ecc one eh?? it's faster and cheaper?

Since you want the best performer, get the Corsair Twin-X PC3200 2x512MB DDR ECC REGD (TWINX1024RE-3200LL). It will give you faster access times and will overclock well if you go that direction.
