Kids Use Linksys Router for T1 Connection?

Hello All,

Can you use a Linksys Cable/DSL router on a T-1 connection?

I am looking for a inexpensive but secure hardware firewall
to install on an open t-1 connection.

Thanks,

Drewid

Yes, you can. I've done it a few times. You'll have set a static WAN IP, but other than that it should work as designed.

Where do you live Drewid? I'm moving in . . J/K

Seriously, I had no idea you could do this. Will this work long-term or would this be considered a temporary fix M_Six?

Thanks for the information M_six. Are the linksys firewalls halfway decent and do a pretty good job with the basics?

What is the difference between a linksys and a higher end (cost) firewall?

For all T1s I've dealt with you normally have a router with csu/dsu capabilites to connect to the actual T1 pair.

After that you could connect your broadband router.
