CPU or mobo utility for a Dell...........

Tried MBM5 and speedfan. Neither recorded much of anything. No cpu temps, heck, no temps at all. MBM 5 told me I had a P4 2.4. That's about it. Speedfan told me that fan 1 & 2 (there actually is no 2nd fan) were both running at 419,500rpms! (Wonder how long the bearings will last at those speeds....he he)

Anybody got any other recommendations?? The Dell BIOS doesn't tell jack!!

I'm not too informed when it comes to these kinds of programs but I can say that we will need more info. What model is your Dell and what chipset info can you provide us? Details like that could prove very helpful.

Well, it'll probably have to be something that sticks out like a sore thumb. Since mbm5 lists a few Dell mobos & doesn't work, I'm guessing somebody (Doc?) will have to have some familiarity with a Dell utility since Dell seems to lock most folks out.

It's a 4600c (small form factor) and I can't tell what the chipset is but it's rather recent. The Graphics controller is 865G but I'm guessing the mobo chipset is probably nearer 845(?).

most motherboards have a small chip the has the job of supplying this information, can't remember the name they call it.
but if the board does not have this chip, the software has no place to look for this information, and will not work
you will be stuck with looking in the bios.
