Systems Kinternet problems- can someone please help me?

Hi

I'm new to SuSE Linux 8.1 Pro (and all Linuxes for that matter, though I have done extensive research on the subject)

On my other computer- the one with Linux, I am having trouble connecting to the internet...

At first, when I started up Kinternet, I recieved an error box. I don't remember what it was, but after I set up the modem from the YaST2 thingy the dialog box went away...

When I started Kinternet and clicked "Dial In"- it quickly attempts dialing, but then disconnects immediately afterwards...

When I check the log- it says "pppd died: pppd options error (exit code 2)"

What does this mean? And what can I do to fix it?

And please... I am a 100% newb in the linux world... so like... Istill need to learn my "Basic Basics" and termonology

Thanks

This sounds like a problem I had with Ark Linux.
check /etc and make sure there is a file in that directory named resolv.conf.

If the file is not there, just create it. It can be an empty file.

Germ has a point:
I had to do that in a few earlier vers. of SuSE(7.1 and 7.2) but kppp would display an error message saying it couldnt find it.Figured that was one of SuSE's little security quirks.
