This is in no way a thread crap but I thought that the MP3 player and cheap CD-R's killed the mini-disk player market. I suppose they might still be thriving in the UK but you'd have a hard time finding one in the USA.

Nope. Sorry I can't help you. I was going to stear you towards an I-Pod or something similiar.

I'll be watching this thread just to see if these NET mini discs are like the mini disc players we had on the market here a few years ago.

what were they then? any ideas where i can find out what it means? ive got a feeling it means that there is a USB input so that u can download straight onto md rather than from another source eg a cd player

The mini disc player my old roommate had used optical cable for inputs - I don't remember it having USB hookups. His was a Sony but I don't remember the model. He copied stuff to his from his component stereo system. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the newer units interfaced with a computer. In fact it would be surprising if they didn't.

Well if I remember well there was a buddy of mine that had one of this NET mini disc palyers, and the difference between that model and the older ones was that he was able to record music from his PC to the player via USB by just drag and droping the files using a program supplied by Sony. The older md players you had to select the audio output to be the player itself, so if you wanted to record say 100 songs you would have to wait for 100 songs to finish (this is with the older models), with the NET ones the recording is done mush faster and with drag and droping which is as simple as it gets. Hope this helps .
