Mandrake 9.2 ( Have you tried it? )

Are there any screen shots of the new Mandrake 9.2 ?

I 'm willing to purchase a copy of it if i like it. Im using 9.1 right now and its a fine o/S it does anything i want it to do.

Has anyone installed Mandrake 9.2 yet?

I haven't yet, waiting for the public release (I think the release is due on Nov.1) but from what I have heard there are no significant changes from Mandrake 9.1

I saw the screenshot too. Really cool, although I have no idea how to do it. This new version looks very promising. As soon as the public release is out I will download the file and see how it works.

I just saw this:

Drivers:
ATI© Drivers
NVIDIA® Video Drivers
NVIDIA® nForce 1 et 2 Drivers
Conexant® HCF/HSF Drivers

It comes with the video card drivers already installed. Now thats great (remembering the day when I had to install the driver in Mandrake by myself)

Only the powerpack comes with those drivers. The other two do not.

Ah, it is only the powerpack download that comes with it then

My mistake, I thought they carried the same over to the packaged versions.

No problem
Although I am happy to show a Linux expert was mistaken and a Linux newbie corrected him
By the way since you have tried it out do you think its worth to upgrade from Mandrake 9.1?

It's really hard for me to say. I have been using 9.2 since the first RC. As a result I really am blurred as to what changed

IMO the improvements really seem to be GUI. Kernel remains essentially the same, and as far as I can tell nothing really undergoes a major revision other than OpenOffice 1.1. A lot of tools in the Control Center have been revamped, which is good.

Personally I always upgrade as it is easy and free My upgrade has always gone smoothly.
