SMC 11MBPS wireless card is just not letting me have a good connection

long story short, this card is blinking when connected, but it cannot access the network or anything. I have been into cmd and ipconfig and it gives me a 169 ip address, i tried ipconfig release, renew, and all that sort of stuff. Nothing, i don't know what to do peeps.

when i go into ipconfig for regular settings and stuff, it says the media is disconnected.

The other laptop is using the same card as well and it is connecting normally, but this one laptop with its own card is just bugging around.

What else could i try, because the software for the router says, i need to reset it, because it says that the default gateway is not matching the wireless card's ip address.

I am totally confused.

what router are you using?

do you have DHCP enabled?

do you have the latest firmware updates for the router?

latest network drivers?
