Missing tray icon.

I am running Win XP Home ed.(Clean install)
I have installed the Burning program NERO6. It works fine except the program element InCD4. This program is supposed to start automatically by putting its icon in the Tray.
It has no other access to the program. When the program is first installed (InCD4) only, it works fine until the computer is turned off and restarted or simply re-booted. It will not put its icon in the tray and can only be recovered by un-installing and re-installing. Can I please get some help from someone that has had a similar experience. Thanks

That doesnt sound quite right. First of all, cant you go to the "program files" folder then find "ahead" and somewhere in there you will find "InCD". I have noticed this myself many times....you dont see it listed on the start folder etc....if you want a shortcut you have to dig into the actual program folder..find the icon, then right click it and send it to the desktop.

And are you sure it needs an icon in the tray? Maybe it is running but not with an icon?

It probably has some options you just havent seen yet.

is "incd"checked in your start up menu?
go-- start/run/msconfig/selective startup/startup
and see if it is checked or not , if you want it to run on start up check the box

HINT you can also disable other programs from starting up and runnin in the backgroung from here to help speed up a litttle

XP hides inactive system tray icons. Right click on the start bar, select Properties.
Is Hide Inactive Icons checked?
If so, click the customize button. From there you can change the InCD icon settings to always show.

Thanks guys, but yes I have checked all that stuff. Yes, I agree, this is the first program that I have seen that has only one means of starting. There must be a reason. I have a message in to the program vendor together with a big snapshot of my system in operation. They say 1-3 days for an answer. I may try turning off the other occupants of the tray and would have already except that it comes up after a re-install, no problem.

You are telling us that if you look in the "program files" folder you dont have an 'ahead" or "nero" folder that has "InCD" somewhere in it??

I dont believe you, lol.

OOOPS; I found that I could make a shortcut from the file in program files. The app. manual said that the program could only be started from the tray. Thanks a bunch.

yeah, you just make a shortcut from the program files to the desktop....and it might not need a tray icon at all.
