Ad3 Sound Problem

I've had various little problems with sound on my computer. One of them is when I play 'starcraft' on my computer and I run it with the music turned on my drive is continuously reading the cd until it starts to head up and I have to turn the music off. Another problem is I just got FF7 for pc and while the background music play the battle scene sound FX don't play. I've been looking into what kind of sound I have but I'm not really sure. I know I have A3d audio but I think it's damaged or it was deleted from startup or something. WHen I go to Start>Programs>Aureal 3d for Compaq. there is "AD3 Bee Demo" and "AD3 Race Demo" but when I try to run them I get a prompt "No-A3D-device present. Exiting..." I think this has something to do with these audio problems I'm having. Is there anyway I can reinstall the A3D device? Also I would like to find out if I am running any audio card if any, how would I check that. Thank you.

What operating system are you using? How much memory do you have in the system? What is the Compaq Model number of your system?

Here is a link to a page with the specs for your system:

The first thing to check is the device manager for any errors for audio devices. Then I would try and reload the audio drivers.
