Printer for Windows 2003 Server

I'm looking for a good laser printer that is supported in windows 2003, I've tried a couple of older HP laser printers with this OS and couldn't get them to work. It has drivers for them but it wouldn't print to them. Even with the updated drivers and I wouldn't get a good print. The client has asked me to find a new printer that is supported in Windows 2003, also trying to keep the price under $1500 CDN ($1150 USD), anyone have any experience with printers for this OS?
