Trouble with printer in XP

It seems that XP pro keeps looseing my laser printer. I have a Minolta 1250 laser printer, and it seems that after a while xp won't print to it. If I reset th computer it will print..
Any ideas? I have reintalled the driver and such.

Wow, now I remember.
I read in a magazine called PC World that Windows XP has a flaw when using a printer in the parallel slot. It gives all these weird problems, I don't remember exactly. What I remember is that Microsoft's respond to this was to ignore the problem, and tell the people that experienced this problem to buy a USB cable to connect the printer with it. This means Microsoft ignored the issue and did not release any patches or fixes. Maybe it has nothing to do with your problem but I just remembered to have read that. I will check my magazines to see if I can find the article talking about this.

The reason I asked is, my printer quit working. I went from 98SE
to 2K. Printer worked on usb. I loaded the drivers for 2k that's whn the trouble started. Un installed all drivers. Hooked up via the
parallal. 2k reconized the printer. Works great. The fax modem likes it this way too.Only software from printer used is the album maker/picture print.
