Gaming OK I don't know if this is the right place...

Right well, I need help lol. My stupid mother, put a disc with a virus on my computer, and basically screwed it up bad

This resulted in my boyfriend having to reformat my computer, before I had windows ME, but he changed it to windows pro 2000, when he reformatted it. Everything's more or less ok, except the colours are all weird and I don't know if it's got something to do with the monitor or what, my boyfriend thinks it needs a driver or something but can't seem to find the right one

Can anybody help me??

Thanks
*Loley*

You most likely just need the video card drivers.

Do you know what kind of vid card you have? Is this a homebuilt system or a Dell, Compaq, HP, etc?

You need a driver for you video card.
What you can do is type dxdiag on run, its located in the start panel. After you type this press enter and a screen will appear. Wait until the bar finishes and go to display. Here you will probably see what video card you have, it will say in device. It will tell you the name of the video card and its manufacturer. When you know what video card your machine has post back here and we will help you where you can download a driver for it.

Ok, try this: (for XP, probably the same on 2kpro)

Hit the windows key plus the pause key to bring up the system properties window.

Click on the hardware tab

Click the device manager window

Click on the display adapters plus sign, then highlight the subtitled video device (nvidia or ATI, whatever)

Right click on that device, highlight and click properties

Should say "deivice is working properly. or "no installed drivers for this device, etc.

Click the driver tab to update or roll back to a new driver, or walk through the troubleshoot tab.

If that don't work, install and run http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

this will tell you the mobo, processor, and video device installed. The Video device makers webstie would be the next stop for trouble shooting.
