Utility/Utilities needed for tempermental pc......

Here's the symptoms...........

Doing an install (on a new pc build) of a game. (4 cd's total). 1st CD goes smoothly, then 2nd gives BSOD and after escaping out, offers a "retry" suggesting that the disc may be dirty as the drive couldn't find the file/pathname. Then it proceeds to do this about 3 or 4 times thru disc 2 and disc 3. After doing the "retry" thing several times the entire game is finally installed & all is well.

Can I get it to repeat the problem?? Ooooh, heck no!!
So, anyway I tried installing a couple other programs but they all went well. (if anything, maybe a bit slow). After all this, my question is (as mentioned) to look for a utility that might test my drive (d: cd-writer) to see if it's flubbered or just finicky.

TIA!!!!!!!!

have you tried installing the game on another machine?
Possibly CD's are bad or poorly recorded onto the cd's
(maybe the laser was out of whack when it was recording *shrug*)

Possible, but not likely. I do have a couple CD's here at work that I know have a hard time running so I might try those & compare with these.

Who knows. It may have just been a fluke??
