I have this quantum 2111at bigfoot cy drive...

Came in compaq computer.. I want to reformat is and start from scratch....

Now, since its in that computer, am I going to have a problem if I reinstall another OS ???, because of the bios?

(I hate proprietary junk)...

You shouldn't have any problems. I took a Quantum "Bigfoot" 4.3GB drive out of an old HP and put it in an old box. Installed NT4 just fine on it.

A format should be safe. If you repartition though you will loose the hidden compaq partition where compaq setup and diagnostics is located. Unless you don't care to keep the hidden partition. . .

Thanks.... this one is a 2.4 I think.....

Anyway, this thing has got to be the slowest POS I have ever seen....

My old 486 with a 750mb HD was faster than this....
