Building A Computer

Ok I got the ok from the folks to start building a computer starting in the beginning of the Springtime. So I've been looking for a case and some lights for it. I'm guessing the more watts it has the better it is. I'm completly making this computer for my games. I have my montior....yea a Dell 17" Flat Screen. Cost me only $150 so I'm ok with it. As for the case I'm looking for nothing over $75 but I like techincial so no plain white ones. I would like a custom case...like one with a design...maybe WW2..but no luck. I did find a few items I am interested in. Maybe you can tell me if they are good or I can get better..

Thats all for now...I will post more when I get the main case list finished for ordering. If you can find better then above in a good price range please tell me by replying or PM.

Finding a good case with design for under $75 is no easy feat. Especialy if you want a PSU with it. Also the more watts the better is not entirely true. Yes more is better if you have alot of things running from it, but you also have to consider the PSU stability, its rating on the 5, 12, and 3.3 rails, its conversion efficiency.

You also have to conisder the cooling potential of the case. I say spend some more on the case since it is the one component that you will always see and will be the last you upgrade if you ever do.

I went through 5 cases untill I found my Sonata, and even now I am eyeing the SLK3700AMB, but enough is enough, spend too much money on cases

One sugestion I would make is to get a case with either a crappy PSU which you will not use or one without, and get a PSU when you get everything else. The reason I say this is because PSU are starting to come out with connections for SATA, but not every one has them, and you do not want to deal with converters. Also Antec Modular PSU are looking quite interesting

Antec True Power 430Watt is an excellent psu.
as for lights, go to Crazy PC and look for their "laser leds" which are connected to a molex connector. they light up like crazy, and I've got my whole full-tower chieftec case lit up (with window) with one green laser led.
check out my previous post: for specs and prices of good systems.
diy computer building is tons of fun...have a great time! oh, and don't forget that boring old beige cases can be spraypainted and banged up with a hammer (for texture) and modded by yourself...and then you will have a truly unique system.
some people over at Mini-itx.com put their computers into really crazy cases. though your puter will be larger, it doesn't hurt to check out their cool ideas.
have fun!

Decided that the case above would make as must noise as a shack in a storm. Desided to use this...trouble is it holds six fans....2 are included. So that give me to use 4 fans. That's alot...I know if I get all 6 I will have to get a fan controller. Anyone help on this stump?
