office xp 2003

What are the upgrades in this version and is it worth the money?
I am a student and could pick it up for 150 but I just wondered if there are any significant improvements. Thanks for any first hand info.

From what I have heard there are no significant upgrades in Word or the other except for Outlook. Most recommend this office suite for business but there are no significant changes for the home users. If I was you I wouldnt spend the money on this office suite for some minor upgrades. If you use Outlook a lot you will probably want to upgrade it but the others you dont need to. Maybe if you use Office 97 or 2000 you will like to upgrade the whole suite but for the Office XP users there are minor upgrades that arent that significant. Then of course it depends on the users opinion, mine is upgrade Outlook only but only if you sue it a lot.

dan

P.S. The new office suite from Microsoft is actually called Office 2003 not as the titel of this thread

I agree totallly with Dan and GZ. Not worth the cost unless you have Office 97 or Office 95. I'd put the money in a new 200 GB drive.

I have been using it since it went gold, and I love it. Outlook does some neat things like not downloading photos and such in HTML mail unless you tell it to. Also, the way it presents your messages it is much easier to manage mail.

Word has a cool thing called book view, where it puts the pages side by side.

I have a real problem with how much MS charges for Office in general, so if you have to buy it, I don't know that I would reccomend it.

The best deal is the student/teacher edition, which any family can get. It's $150 and you can use it on up to three computers. And it's upgradeable (unlike previous s/t editions).
