a little networking help please.

ok i set up a netwrok between my two machines (intel and amd) using a cross over cable. the problem is that, on the p4 machine (its the one that connects to the internet) i can't see any of the files which are being shared between the 2 computers, but i can see them fine on the amd machine. also, i can't accesss the internet from the amd machine. i have enabled ICS from network connections but still can't connect. please help me solve these 2 problems.

thanx.

What operating system is on each computer?

If they are going to share files they have to be on the same "workgroup"..by default, XP is on "MSHOME" and Win98 is on "workgroup"

Right click on the drive you want to share, select properties, I believe the tab you want is sharing, click on in, if you are the in the root directory of that drive it will give you a warning about doing this, ignore it for now and click the check box that says you want to share this drive.

Sometimes you have to give it up to 15 minutes to let the shares show up etc
