Media Your opinion please

Hey guys. I am currently running a Geforce3 Ti200 oc'd to 189 core and 480 ram. It runs the older games fine. But I recently purchased Halo and the performance reminded me of my old Voodoo3 3000 card trying to run Unreal2k3. Ugh. Now I want to purchase a new video card(leaning toward ATI). Would it be smart to spend $500 now or wait for three months for newer, next gen Video cards and spend $500 then. I won't mind the wait. Thanks guys.

my personal thoughts, no matter how long you wait the newest card will still be 3 months away (technology is always changing). i wish i had that kind of money. if i did i would probably buy one now, but that is because i am impatient. and if you do buy one and are gonna get rid of the GF3, let me know

Go ahead and buy a 9600xt or a 9700pro 128mb, that'll last you awhile

I am fretting over those new DX9 games coming up. I have never had the "best" video card and I want the best. *drool* 16xAA and Anistropy CRANKED! I dont think that the 9600XT or the 9700pro could pull that on the new DX9 games.

From what i heard, the 9600xt is susposed to be very good.

But if you want the best, go ahead and buy the 9800xt 256MB and spend about $550

Just get it now, the new cards won't be too much more powerful, you'll just wait and wait for more powerful cards.

Be sure to buy a good one that you can overclock to perform at the higher card speeds

I just read an article that was linked from TIMO and the review on the said that the 9800XT provided minimal performance over the other 9800 and wasnt worth the price. Let me see if I can find the link.
