PowerPoint problem

I hate this odd problem.

//edit: It should say 'I have this odd problem.' Wonder where the hate came from

Computers tested:
Toshiba SP4600 (w2ksp3, office2000sr-1, trident cblade xp, latest drivers for it and dx8.1)
Toshiba Tecra S1 (w2ksp3, office2000sp3, mobility radeon 9000, latest drivers and dx8.1)
Compaq Evo SFF (w2ksp3, office2000sr-1, intel 82845G, latest drivers and dx9)
Toshiba Tecra 9000 (w2ksp3, office2000sr-1, <don't remember vid card>, latest drivers and dx8.1)

Errors listed:
A color shows incorrectly in presentation, it does show correctly in all other views.
Animated effect (saw letters inscreen) makes the letters have a alpha-lookalike-box around them, disintegrating the background.
(I'll try to attach a screencapture of this as it's hard to explain)

The first error can be fixed by setting 32bit colors, the second error does not happen if there's 16bit colors.

Every other computer displays the presentation fine, except the Tecra S1 (I tried to install office2000-sr1 to see if it would work that way, didn't).

What does work, though, is the free powerpoint viewer from microsoft. It displays everything correctly at 16bit. However, it does not have the delays correct (so if one event is supposed to happen 00:02 seconds after the previous, it takes like 00:04 seconds to start the event).

So, does anyone know how I could make it work on 16bit mode, like all other computers do.

It seems clear the problem is OfficeSP3, but I'd try to install W2KSP4.

Falete.

Well that was one common factor, but the problem did not go away when I removed office2ksp3 and cleaninstalled office2ksr-1.

I'll assume that the video drivers issued by Toshiba are faulty. I did a clean install of w2k+sp2 and office2k-sr1 onto the machine, but the problem persists.
Toshiba hasn't ever released other drivers except for those in use, and no other driver is installable so I guess it's waiting and waiting then...
