Can't run cloned HDD - page fault!

I have two Maxtor 80 G HDD's in my rig. They both have Win2K on them, "D" has an extra partiton I use for back ups.

I have used a HDD copy utility to copy "C" (my mail drive) to "D".

I had a problem with something and though I would give my idea whirl, so I unplugged C and plugged in D as master. When I booted, I got a page file fault and stalled. Does anyone know what happed here, and why it didn't run like normal HDD? Should I have not plugged it in after cloning thereby changing the registry references to "D"? (Not plugging them in leaves them as "C" I suppose).

PS, I suppose in a real emergency I could reload Windoze2K and all would we well?

Thanks in advance....

BTW: My original idea was to have a back up hdd that all I had to do was plug in and all was well...

IF you used Ghost (did you?)
you could re-clone the HDD with the -fdsz switch ~~ this clears the signature bytes on the destination disk when performing a
disk-to-disk or image-to-disk cloning operation.
good luck ,
Robert
