FTP Problem: I want my Files

Hey there,

I got a host from 250host.com.

I have an FTP Program called CuteFTP Pro.

I can login and upload files.

I CANT access or download those files externally from the web(which is the point of this thread).

I want people to download the videos and game movies and art that I have but I cant seem to access any of the files. Point being, I dont know how to do it first time having an ftp server.

When I got to FTP://mysite.net it asks for a username and pword to which I heartily supply, it doesnt work. I tried loggin on anonymously to no avail as well. I tried putting in the exact path and filename of the er....file and nothing.

I dont know what to do to gain access to my files.

Do you have a public_html directory? if so, you need to put the files in there.

I didnt see a directory named public_html in any of the folders.

Is there a way I can make a folder public? And how would I access them?

Every time I try to enter my FTP site via Explorer I'm confronted byt he username and pword dialogue.

There has to be something stupidly simple im missing.

Do they offer "Anonymous FTP"? If not, then you probably won't be able to allow people to download your files that way.

Well, in the properties box (I right clicked the site in CuteFTP) there is an anonymous ftp checkbox....I check it...same problem. Login credentials.

After a little digging, you don't get "Anonymous FTP" until you get the

"Serious Business" plan.

Hmmm.....so if I dont have that plan, I cant get files offa my server? Thats not web hosting, thats web storage.
