Kids HELP-PC reboots every night!

Hey guys!

Ok, I've had this problem for quite a while now and it's really starting to tick me off...

My computer will reboot with a nice pretty BSOD STOP error message...right around the same time every evening. My event viewer shows this:

I went to that link and it gives me this:
Explanation
Service Control Manager (SCM) could not start the specified service, probably because the service is not configured correctly.

User Action
Do one or all of the following:

Review the error information displayed in the message.
Verify that the service password has not expired.
Verify that the service is in the correct location.
Verify that the service is not infected with a virus.
To display the WIN32_EXIT_CODE error that SCM encountered when trying to start the program, at the command prompt, type
sc query service name. (I'm not sure what the service name is)
The information displayed can help you troubleshoot possible causes for the error.

I don't even have an ATI card installed (I used to, now I have a GF4).

A google serach revealed this:
The "ATI WDM Specialized MVD Codec" component is specific to ATI capture products using the Brooktree BT829 Capture chip and should not be being used when using a RAGE THEATRE based ALL-IN-WONDER 128.

I'm not sure what to do, but some helpful ideas would be nice.

Thanks!
Mike

Update your virus definations and do a scan.
Do a search for the ATI drivers (files) that were left over after you did the switch (there are ALWAYS left over files from old hardware). Also, search the registry for entries for the ATI card (there are probably more there).

I've done the virus update/scan twice...no luck.

I did a search for *ati* and a ton of stuff came up under the Windows\system32 folder...I don't know that they're ALL related to my old card though.

I'm about to hit the registry...maybe I should run regcleaner to make it easier on myself.

Thanks for the idea...

Mike

The is a program called Driver Cleaner that you can download at www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/. It gets rid off all ati stuff that would be left on the computer after uninstall of drivers.

Sweet, thanks! Installing it now...

EDIT: Well, the cleansing has been completed, I guess I'll know if it worked tomorrow night or not!

It DID have ATI WDM there too, that's the culprit!

Thanks again...
