Kids 512 to 1024 memory upgrade?

I am thinking of adding another stick of 512mb of pc3200 memory to my system. I am doing video editing and dvd burning. What kind of performance increase should i expect from this upgrade? Will it increase speed for converting dv-avi files to mpeg-2?

I was going to ask the same question as Gz3 but he was faster.
I would say more Ram is always welcome, and specially if you use Windows XP. Although you already have enough (and if its pc3200 which I think it is, you actually have a lot) I think you wont see that much better performance, although if you are doing things that require a lot of memory the you would see some boost ups. I would go for it if I was you but you have to think like this "Do I really need it?" Just my suggestions

this was a serious problem with the win9x kernel

the NT kernel win2k/xp dont have this problem as they are designed for better memory management than win9x

if you have the money to buy more ram, i would suggest doing it. If you are not having any problems right now then i would leave it alone.

I have 1 gig of ram because i play around with Vmware alot

You may not notice any difference at all. Most of what your doing is cpu intensive but wth...more ram never hurts!

You will notice the biggest difference when multi-tasking.
