how to lock down sendmail?

I've got a fresh install of RedHat 9 and need to run sendmail for this computer only. How do I set it up so it only accepts outgoing mail from localhost or from domains that I choose? Thanks

You could use hosts.allow, and then use an implicit deny in hosts.deny.

If you just want local connections then you can just block the port using iptables, then no incoming connection could ever be made.

Redhat 9 should have a fancy little wizard to set that up for you Will be in the Kmenu or whatever the hell you call that foot, under system if i remember correctly. Just tell it the ports you want open, it will block everything else by default.

If that isnt working for you let me know and I can paste you an iptables script that will just block everything, and open up a few ports for you if you want.

I believe that what you want is how it comes out of the box.
