Hey all,

I've just been doing some cleaning up on my PC, and noticed my c:\windows\ directory is totally to about 1.4GB!

Just wondernig what all your's are like in comparision.

Considering i install all my apps n files to my d:\ i'm kinda shocked at how big my windows folder is....

I wouldn't worry much, JayMan!

I install most of my apps to my D: drive as well...I've had this system running for about a year and a half now. Maybe I need to do some housecleaning...I was shocked when I ran regcleaner, over 1,000 items left over from old installs.

So what all are you doing to "clean up"?

Man that sucks... Cuz yeh for some reason my zip program (alzip) continues to use my c:\ as the temp even tho i tell it to use d:\... And currently c:\ don't have enuff free for what i wanna zip! hence the house cleaning...

MIght have to resize my c:\ partition... Actually.. this PC could probably do with a good format & reinstall... to clean up all the junk...

I remember formatting/installing Win98 every 6 months or so just because of how crappy it was...IMO anyway.

Nothing wrong with a good ol' cleansing!

Alzip, eh? Hmmm...never heard of it.

www.alzip.com can uncompress pretty much any compression format ya could think of, and best of all its 100% free for personal use. No nag screens, just a banner in the top right of the program sayings its the unregistered free version...

Actually i'd like to do a low level format of these drives... But i've got nowhere to backup all my files to (i've got over 20GB of music video clips & mp3's, plus all my other downloads n stuff... thats wayyy too many CD's to burn...)

1.61 GB for XP on this computer.

Sounds like a job for a DVD burner.
I would HATE trying to copy that amount of music and other files to a temp HD and then back again. I've had data corruption doing just that.
I finally took a 40 gig drive and used it as a permanent storage device.
Now when I build a new comp it's easy to reinstall using my permanent data drive on/as the slave and just use the windows explorer 'copy' feature.
