Audio CDs not recognized in WinXP, all other CDs fine?
Hey everyone. I'm running WinXP SP 1 on a fairly clean, well-maintained machine, most drivers etc. up to date. Problem is, almost no programs will recognize audio CDs in any of my optical drives anymore. I have tested this with two seperate drives and the problem is identical on both, so obviously it's software-related, not hardware.
I'm betting this has to do with ASPI layers, and probably some other CD utilities I have installed. I've got:
- Daemon Tools
- Easy CD Creator 5 Basic
- Exact Audio Copy
- IsoBuster 1.4
The problem existed before installing Easy CD Creator, I just installed it hoping it would fix whatever ASPI problems I might have. Windows Explorer and all of my media player programs claim my optical drive is inaccessible when an audio CD is inside. Exact Audio Copy, however, seems to be able to read audio discs, though I get no sound when trying to play them inside EAC.
Uninstalling Daemon Tools & IsoBuster has done nothing. Using ForceASPI to install Adaptec's 4.6.0 version of their ASPI layer has done nothing. Any other ideas? Why would this only effect audio CDs?
TIA,
Leah
