ATI Pro or not?
I'm planning to buy the Radeon -AIW-9700 Pro-128MB or possibly even the AIW 9800 Pro.
What is the difference between the Pro or non- Pro?
Is the Pro Version mainly for TV hookup?
Is it worth the upgrade from the 9700 to the 9800?
We have the P4 800 deluxe MOBO and the PC is used a lot
for MS Flightsim.
I hope that this question has not been asked yet. Haven't seen anything on that subject.
Got any opinions? Thanks!

The only difference between the Pro and non-Pro is the speeds they run at.
In my opinion, the few extra Mhz the Pro gives over the non-Pro is NOT worth it, for 2 reasons.
1: Just about any non-Pro can easily be clocked to Pro speed, as the difference is very little.
2: The Pro card is sooo much more expensive then the non-Pro version, there is no way any1 can justify that kind of extra cash for those few extra Mhz.
Ofcourse there is the Ultra Pro card, which comes with 256Mb instead of 128, but that is the 9800XT Pro if I remember correctly.

Thanks for your thoughts on the subject, Ultimate.
It makes sense to me.

| There are 2 versions of the 9800 with 256mb. The Pro Ultra and the XT.

I cant really say about connect3d, they are kinda new. The other 3 all work great. My powercolor OC's fine(but my mobo is finicky) and my friends saphire also OC's great.

If ya want the best ATI card out there, I would go for the Asus one.
They have entered the ATI arena, and I know from previous designs they tend to redesign the layout of the card to maximize performance.
I am getting a pure ATI myself, but that's because I'm getting the sweatest deal on it. |
