Kids No display when connect DVI-D dual link cable

Hi,
I have ATI All-In-Wonder 8500 DV and SONY SDM-M81B, I am having problem trying to connect it with DVI-D dual link cable. I have no display at all, only black. No display during POST as well. May I know what could be the problem? Is there any compatibility issue or I might have defective cable?

tx in advance for any help.

Normal commodity graphics cards don't supply dual link DVI.

Here's what I picked up at Sony Service and Support.

Cheers!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: Because each of these steps is a possible resolution for the display issues, check the display function after completing each step.

Remove any monitor extension cables.
Disconnect the monitor power cable from any power strip or surge protector and connect it directly into a wall outlet.
NOTE: If this eliminates the display issues then the problem lies with the power strip or surge protector. Contact the manufacturer of the power strip or surge protector device for further assistance.

Remove any magnetic devices, electrical devices, speakers, lamps or fans from the vicinity of the computer.
Remove any devices connected to the same wall outlet or electrical circuit as the monitor.
Turn off any flourescent lighting in the vicinity of the computer.
NOTE: Electrical devices and flourescent lighting produce an invisible field of electromagnatism that cause an effect called Electromagnetic Interference (EMI). The display elements in both Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) and Liquid Chrystal Display (LCD) monitors use precisely calibrated components that can be adversly affected by EMI. Moving such devices away from the monitor will minimize the affects of EMI.

Ensure the monitor cables are correctly connected.
If a video pass-through card is being used, bypass the video pass-through connection and connect the monitor directly to the video card.
NOTE: If this eliminates the display issues then the problem lies with the video pass-through device. Contact the manufacturer of the video pass-through device for further assistance.

Move the computer and monitor to a different room.
NOTE: If this eliminates the display issues then an EMI or AC voltage problem exists in the original room. A line conditioner may help, but is not guaranteed to resolve voltage problems.

Connect the monitor to a different computer.
NOTE: If this eliminates the display issues then a software or video card problem exists on the original computer.
