Administrator download only on my computer?

I have Windows ME (I know, no comments please) and when I try and use the Windows update I get the following

To install items from Windows Update, you must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may also prevent you from completing this procedure.

I'm not on a network and I haven't had this problem before. I also tried to download the newest version of yahoo messenger and got a similar message.

Can anyone help me out? thanks

Are you the owner of the computer? (I've been delivering the same question on the thread related to this )

Perhaps you need a password and logged in as an admin.

Yep I'm the owner of the computer. haven't had any problems until a couple of weeks ago for some reason. I went to the microsoft ME site and did what they suggested (going into regedit) but that didn't help. I might just reinstall ME and see if that helps.
