I need help!! problem with my LCD notebook display

I need help, I was reinstalling Win ME on my notebook Nec Versa LX, and suddenly after 1 min or so, the screen shut down because of the power saver, then when I moved the mouse pad so the screen can come up, and it did, the screen was a mess, with lots of rare sqaure pixels. So I rebooted, and after that a Purple vertical line came up, and it has been there, I shut down, and then turn on again, and still show up.... does anybody know how to fix this? Do I need to change the LCD cables from the display to the motherboard?

Hi,
Did you try calling the manufacuter of the laptop if its still under warranty?
Does the laptop have a reset button to reset the CMOS settings? Sometimes it gets corrupted and messes things up.
thanks

You have the O/S installed?
Do you have a bootable floppy to get to a 'C:' prompt?

Did you do a "format c:" before you reinstalled the O/S?
Did you check the drive with a utility?
How old is the unit?
ME isn't the best choice for O/S's, though I didn't have trouble with it (others recomend not using it). If you don't have a choice, disable System Restore and PC Health right off the bat!

thanks for the help, but its not a software problem, its a hardware problem.

My notebook is a Nec Versa LX P-II 266Mhz / 160MB RAM / 4GB HDD

Any clues?

If you are so sure it's hardware related then I would contact the manufacture, but considering it's age it's out of warrenty and probably not worth fixing.
