Outdoors Winfast TV2000 Sound Problems When Recording Video

When I try to record a TV station or timeshift, the sound drops right out. Interestingly, to me anyway, when I try to record FM the audio stays on.

I tried some of the tips I found on this forum & also have a pending email in with Leadtek tech support. I'm real happy with this card otherwise. The features it offers for $50 is pretty impressive. Now if I could only get them all to work. Any suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated...

I had a similar problem, it turned out to be my c-media onboard audio. It couldn`t handle full duplex which time shift needs. Switched to a pci sb4.1 and all is fine. I was using showshifter software. What sort of sound card are you using?

Onboard audio also - soundmax. My mobo is the Asus P4S8x-x. This is driving me NUTS. Getting ready to start taking hostages. Kidding. When I look at the 4 winfast components in device manager after everything is supposedly installed according to install software, audio capture says no drivers have been installed. I uninstalled onboard sound with no luck. I really don't want to buy a sound card. Spending way too much time on this $46 headache.

I don`t know that sound card, but I would try and borrow one so you would be sure. When I got the problem with Showshifter I looked on their faq and thats what it told me that onboard audio couldn`t handle full duplex for timeshift.

Hi,

I guess I am not the only one who is having this problem with the Winfast TV2000 XP deluxe. I also have onboard audio, Realtek AC97, and the sound works watching live TV or FM but once I try to record or time shift the sound cuts out and will not come back until I close out the app and reload it. I've tried all the "fixed" drivers from leadtek's site and disabled the Norton Antivirus internet messenger protection setting. I also emailed tech support but they gave me no useful info at all. (the things they suggested to do were the things that I had already done!)Anyway, I'm also wondering if maybe I need to get a PCI sound card but I really hope not. If any of you guys can get yours to work please post your solution, and I will do the same. Thanks!

Joel,

Exactly the same problem I'm having. When you look at the Winfast configuration menu do you see your onboard sound, Realtek AC97, as your audio capture device instead of the Winfast audio capture device? The last thing I tried was to uninstall Winfast drivers, disable onboard sound in my bios, & reinstall Winfast. Another futile attempt. The good news a decent pci sound card can be had for $20. I've been shopping at newegg.com lately. I tried borrowing one from friends with no luck yet. I'm determined to get this card to work. I've put too much time into it to dump it. Good luck to you. Keep me posted.

I have that problem also. However I just installed the card and have yet to try any fixes. I am running an Asus a7n8x Deluxe mobo with the onboard sound. If anyone finds the answer please post. Thanks.

Well, I've been emailing Leadtek's tech support, actually the guy has been pretty good about replying to my messages, which is more than I can say for most other tech support depts. Anyway, I asked him if the sound card needs to have full-duplex support in order for time shifting or recording to work, and he said that yes it is a requirement. So I don't know for sure whether or not my onboard sound has that capability, but if that is the case then I guess I will need to get a SB PCI card. Actually I was thinking about upgrading anyway, since my computer doesn't have a joystick port and I have some games that require a joystick. Anyway, if anybody can get their TV card to work with their onboard sound and not using a PCI sound card, please let me know. Thanks.

I am not sure if this will help but...

I have the same problem now but I didn't with my previous computer. Both have or had onboard audio.

The previous one was a compaq 7360 with ESS Allegro PCI Audio but my new computer has Realtek ALC 650 codec - 5.1 channel AC'97 software Audio.

Sorry I don't have anything new to add since I haven't figured this problem out yet but I am thinking it has to do with the type of onboard audio rather than something wrong with the tv tuner card itself.

I hope this information helps. I haven't read all of the posts so please forgive me if I sound like a broken record.
