How to make a movie clip into an avatar or gif?

I have some movie and tv show clips that I want to make into a moving gif image. How would I go about doing that? I tried the animator from jasc, but it always crashed when I opened up the movie clip. Does anyone else know of a better software?

Thanks,
Bizkitkid2001

I don't have the money for fireworks. A free program would be nice.

I finally got animaotr shop to make one. Found out that if i had it checked to do somthing like paste two similar frames together, then it would crash the program. But i unchecked that and it worked.

Nothing real exciteing, just somepictues I wanted in my sig at an anime forum. This is the one I made tonight, its small because I can't find a photohosting site that will allow over 4 meg files.

This is a part during the movie Wonderful Days. http://www.wonderfuldays.co.kr/english/
