Win2k vs WinXP, which is more stable?

I currently have winxp w/SP1 installed but have been expereincing some problems and have decided to go back to win2k. But before I do,

between Win2k Server/Pro with SP4 and WinXP Pro with SP1, which is more stable/reliable/secure?

your experiences and recommendation please.

I'd personally go with Win2k with SP4 over XP with SP1

Do a search, there was a thread over the summer that went on for ever. Please read that one instead of starting a new one.

Do you have the link? I know these kind of threads have been done to death. I tried to google it but I found threads from 2001 I figured opinions might have changed after service pack releases.

Thanks for the help. I think I'll go back to Win2k sp4 for a bit and maybe go back to XP when it has matured more, SP2 perhaps?

My personal expereance is that the older copy of Win 2K Pro installs
easier with fewer problems than the newer updated versions.
Down side, the older version has a lot more updates to download.
I do not like XP.

Both are excellent, it really depends on your machine. One thing though, I do not like Windows 2000 after Service Pack 3, before those service packs were great but after it just made it more unstable and more XP like which I think is wrong, but of course in my opinions. One doubt though, why the Server version? If you have a normal desktop for home or office use then the Server version will just be a pain because of all the services automatically on and its pretty heavy. You will have to wait a while for Service Pack 2 for XP, as mensioned in one of my threads regarding this since its not going to be released soon. I always say to people since they are very alike that if your machine cant take XP go for 2000, if it can stay with XP, but thats my speech for my experiences.
